How can I obtain a sailboat?

When are the races?

What is the race course and gouverning rules?

Are the boats made from kits?

Some are. However, most are developed from unique designs and "scratched built". In every case, the electronics or radio control equipment is obtained from various suppliers.

    ************************************************************************************************

Are the boats for rent?

No! The boats are privatly owned. There is now a concession in the boathouse that rents smaller boats.

    ************************************************************************************************

What is the range of the radio equipment?

    Approximately one mile.

    ************************************************************************************************

Can the boats tip over?

Not usually... they have a lead keel that prevents tipping. But never say never!

    ************************************************************************************************

How fast can they go?

As fast as the wind will allow them. We never measured the exakt speed.

    ************************************************************************************************

How can I obtain a sailboat?

Start with a kit from a local Hobby Shop. If racing is on your mind, check at Kerbs Boathouse. From time to time someone may have one for sail or can guide you in the right direction.

    ************************************************************************************************

When are the races?

Generally each Saturday from April to November beginning at 10:00 a.m.

    ************************************************************************************************

What is the race course and gouverning rules?

The course raced is the modified olympic, which consist of a triangle followed by a windward and leeward leg. Racing right of way rules as apply to full size sailboat races, with a couple of exceptions, also apply for model sailboat racing.
